The Spice Melange

During medieval times the lords of then would retire to their quarters to feast in private.
Servants of the church would retire to flog themselves in private.
Tonight I have experienced the pleasure and the pain of both of these acts simultaneously.
Tonight I have dined on the flesh of lamb and washed it down with the elixir of gods… Prometheus Springs Capsaicin Spiced Elixir. The spice extends life. The spice expands consciousness. The spice is vital to space travel. What’s in the bottle you ask? Pain. The animal cannot resist but to remove itself from the pain. And so to withstand and appreciate it makes one truly human.
The fruit, the salt, the sugar and the spice are perfectly combined. They evoke responses within the mind, body and soul.
It is by will alone I set my mind in motion. It is by the elixir of Prometheus that thoughts acquire speed, the lips acquire stains, the stains become a warning. It is by will alone I set my mind in motion.

“He was a man, but he was aiming for less”.

A liar is one who tells of the reality that they wish to see or that they wish to portray. So those who make excuses for themselves are liars.
Excuses are the lies that we tell ourselves to make our fears and failures more bearable. They are commonly used to explain why we didn’t do what we were supposed to do and worse why we haven’t accomplished what we truly desire. It’s an easy way of justifying our mediocrity, thus avoiding responsibility for things that are under our control. An excuse is a way of saying “I’m guilty but it’s not really my fault." and if it’s not your fault then you’re really just a victim. Your success’ worst enemy is mediocrity.
If we are created in the image of God and Jesus said “Ye are gods.” “Even the least among you can do as I do” then what good are excuses? Imagine the grass that grows effortlessly one day decides after being cut to call it quits. Maybe it needs therapy? Take for example the spider who spends its day constructing a web just to have it destroyed. It wastes no time in starting on a new one, immediately! What are excuses good for? We must follow the nature of creation and continue to move forward with purpose.
We are all responsible for ourselves. To think of yourself as unable to do something or unable to achieve something is to call the universe inept, imperfect and uninspiring. We place limitations on ourselves based on the fears that we carry.
We fear the unknown! There is a place from where thoughts emerge, a perfect place where there are no boundaries. Your imagination contains true freedom. It has no borders, dimensions, lack or limits. A child’s mind is expansive and without ceiling, cap or cutoff. It is an endless frontier of pure bliss and perfect thought. It is a learning computer that has been able to conceive stuff such as space travel, the microchip, the atom bomb, and “The Jersey Shore” (Saturdays, 8:00 p.m. on MTV). Since early on most of us children have been fed limitations and lies. Here’s an example. Ever been told that if you go outside without a coat you could catch a cold? Not true! Colds are caused by viruses. Yet we are constantly fed fears for others sake of control. We later tell ourselves lies to keep in our comfort zone. We were “set straight” in our ways of thinking by our parents, our teachers and society and we never thought to question what our reality really is or what we want it to be. Go to school, get in line, go to work, get in line, follow all the rules and then try to enjoy the last few years of your life in retirement. Success must be on your own terms! If it looks good to the world but does not fulfill you completely, then it’s not success. We need to question whether the fears, worries, anxieties and uncertainties we face are the results of false beliefs we’ve established in life. You will always be what you believe yourself to be. And if you accept what others have set for you and continue to make excuses for yourself then you are losing yourself in the delusion of someone else’s reality.
We are capable of achieving anything we desire but we limit ourselves because of fear and we mask those fears with justifications called excuses.

Answer the following questions and see where your life is:
When was the last time you followed your true passion?
Do you know what your passion is?
Have you accomplished your childhood dream?
What did you want to be or do when you grew up? Are you doing it?
Are you successful?
Do you enjoy Mondays?
Is the weekend just part of your week or a release?
Do you have all the free time you want?
Are you fulfilled?
Are you thinking of excuses right now of why you couldn’t answer yes to any of these questions?

Excuses are the most unsatisfying reasons for not accomplishing goals!

Every one of us, as an individual, is responsible—responsible for what we do, responsible for whom we are, responsible for the way we face and deal with the world, responsible, ultimately, for the way the world is.
Existentialism and its philosophy carry with it a short phrase that sums it up: “No Excuses!” We cannot shift the burden onto God, nature or to the ways of the world. We must take our own action for our own desires and if something is holding you back outgrow it because excuses are for the undetermined. Helen Keller was at best incapable of accomplishment yet she accomplished more than those who have the capacity of sight, hearing and speech. What’s your excuse? Ben Franklin said it best when he wrote: Excuses are monuments of nothingness they build bridges to nowhere and those who use these tools of incompetence are masters of nothingness and have nothing but excuses.
